Grand Master’s Message

It is my pleasure to greet you as the 62nd Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons for the Jurisdiction of Michigan. I am humbled by the confidence you have placed in me and grateful for the faith you have bestowed in me and my administration.

The task before us is transparent: Restore and remain faithful to the ideals of Faith, Hope and Charity; stay genuine to our true Masonic virtues. We stand at an inflection point at this time with an opportunity to restore decency. In the word of scripture, “To everything there is a season… a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up.” Ecclesiastes 3:3 (KJV). Now is the time to build upon our love, trust, friendship and vision.

I pledge to be a Grand Master who seeks not to divide, but to unify, and it will take a collective effort from ALL MEMBERS to see that this is accomplished. From the newly raised Master Masons, to past and present elected and appointed officers, everyone has value and a voice. To make genuine progress, we need to see and listen to each other; treating our Brothers and Sisters with dignity and respect.

We have great challenges ahead of us. However, we have a talented and motivated team of elected and appointed officers, as well as many Members throughout the jurisdiction ready to get to work to rebuild the backbone of Prince Hall Freemasonry in Michigan!

Over the next year we will be focused on the following five cornerstones:

1.  Governance

2.  Financial Stability & Growth

3.  Leveraging Technology

4.  Membership Development

5.  Reconciliation and Inclusion of the Prince Hall Family

These will serve as this administration’s guideposts to ensuring a productive, congruent Grand Lodge that strives to be the best under the Prince Hall umbrella.

Brothers and Sisters, I look forward to continuous and transparent communication with the Membership.  Engaging in the likes of Town Halls and other forms of communication to ensure that the details of these initiatives are clear and your questions and concerns are addressed.

Again, thank you for your faith in me by electing me as your Grand Master and my commitment is to use the Volume of Sacred Law and Masonic Code as my guides.

May the blessings of the Grand Architect be with you and your Families.

Fraternally Submitted,

Bernt C. Walker
